A sweet-tempered cat, Our beloved Maine Coon breed is highly adaptable to any environment. They enjoy keeping their hunting  skills sharp (even if there isn't anything for them to hunt they will do it ) by chasing, stalking and pouncing toys. A Maine Coon also enjoys a good game of fetch. Since Maine Coons are highly intelligent they often happily learn tricks or play with puzzle toys that challenges their brain. They are agile and love to climb, so providing them with vertical spaces like cat trees or shelves is beneficial. While they can be active, The Maine Coon breed is definitely a people oriented cat, they love to play even into their adulthood, while displaying some very dog like characteristics. They are intelligent, affable, social, vocal, and will follow you around the house out of curiosity. Maine Coons often forgetting their size love to be a lap cat. 

 

They have a muscular build and possess a long, rectangular body with a sturdy bone structure. These cats have a broad, square-shaped head, high cheekbones, and large, expressive eyes. Their most distinctive feature is their luxurious, shaggy coat. Maine Coons require regular grooming to maintain their magnificent coat. Weekly brushing is recommended to prevent matting and remove loose hair. During the shedding seasons, more frequent brushing may be necessary. Additionally, their ears should be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent wax buildup and infections. Routine dental care, nail trimming, and regular vet visits are essential for their overall health and well-being.

 

Maine Coons typically never really grow up, they always have the kitten attitude well into adulthood. Males, especially, are prone to silly behavior. Females are more dignified, but they aren't above a good old  play session or a fun game of chase.
